Legacy function names
Providers retire models regularly. GPTSheetsPlus keeps every function name that ever existed and points it at the replacement the provider recommends, so sheets built on earlier versions keep calculating without edits.
OpenAI
| Function | Originally | Now runs on |
|---|---|---|
=GPT() | gpt-4o-mini, later gpt-5-mini | gpt-6.1-terra |
=GPT4o() | gpt-4o | gpt-6-luna |
=GPT41() | gpt-4.1 | gpt-6-luna |
=GPT5() | gpt-5-chat-latest | gpt-5.6-sol |
=GPT5mini() | gpt-5-mini | gpt-5.6-terra |
=O1(), =O1PRO() | o1, o1-pro | gpt-5.6-sol |
=O3(), =O3MINI() | o3, o3-mini | gpt-5.6-sol |
=O4MINI() | o4-mini | gpt-5.6-terra |
Model IDs passed to =OpenAI() are mapped the same way. See the OpenAI reference.
Google Gemini
| Function | Originally | Now runs on |
|---|---|---|
=GEMINI() | gemini-pro, later gemini-2.5-flash | gemini-3.8-flash |
=Gemini25Pro() | gemini-2.5-pro-preview | gemini-3.1-pro-preview |
=Gemini25Flash() | gemini-2.5-flash-preview | gemini-3.8-flash |
=Gemini20Flash() | gemini-2.0-flash | gemini-3.8-flash |
=Gemini15Pro() | gemini-1.5-pro | gemini-3.1-pro-preview |
=Gemini15Flash() | gemini-1.5-flash | gemini-3.5-flash-lite |
=GEMINI() also changed its argument order: ignore_cache moved from the second to the fourth position. See the Gemini reference.
Perplexity
Perplexity retired the Sonar chat models in favour of the Agent API, which uses effort levels instead of model names.
| Function | Originally | Now |
|---|---|---|
=PPLX(), =PERPLEXITY() | sonar | effort fast |
=PPLX_PRO(), =PERPLEXITY_PRO() | sonar-pro | effort low |
=PPLX_REASONING(), =PERPLEXITY_REASONING() | sonar-reasoning | effort medium |
Old model names passed to =PPLX_AGENT() as the effort argument are mapped too: sonar → fast, sonar-pro → low, sonar-reasoning and sonar-reasoning-pro → medium, sonar-deep-research → high.
Scraping
| Function | Originally | Now |
|---|---|---|
=SCRAPE() and the =SCRAPE_*() family | Firecrawl | Bright Data Web Unlocker |
=Firecrawl() | Firecrawl | still Firecrawl, with your own key |
The maxAge and waitFor arguments of the =SCRAPE_*() functions are accepted for compatibility. maxAge is ignored (results are cached for 6 hours) and any waitFor greater than 0 forces browser rendering.
Search
=SERP() used to search company pages only. It now searches the whole web unless you pass a category. Use =SERP_COMPANY() or =SERP(query, n, "company") for the old behaviour.
